More and more companies and institutions are facing the consequences of grid congestion. Both business growth and the energy transition can no longer be achieved due to insufficient capacity on the power grid. Our Energy Hub offers business parks the opportunity to create additional capacity, even in regions with grid congestion.
Our Energy Hub is a technical system that locally connects the energy availability of companies and ensures that there is always sufficient power, even when demand at any given time exceeds the transport capacity of the regular power grid.
At the heart of the system is an energy island with all the collective energy assets. Here, supply and demand within the collective are balanced using an Energy Management System (EMS). Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) store excess energy from self-generation, supplemented by electricity from the grid during off-peak hours. If necessary, additional energy is generated using a gas generator, though this is rarely needed in practice.
With our Energy Hubs, we can offer energy security of up to 99.99% at the business park. This is equivalent to that of the regular power grid, providing peace of mind for many entrepreneurs.
An Energy Hub becomes a sustainable solution when renewable energy sources, such as solar panels and wind turbines, are utilized at the business park. The electricity from these sources is efficiently distributed among the participants, and any surplus is temporarily stored on the energy island.
In practice, our technological solution has proven capable of reducing CO2 emissions by up to 55%, compared to electricity from the regular power grid.
We offer our Energy Hub solution through operational lease: including maintenance, management, monitoring, and a 24/7 emergency service. This makes the costs highly predictable. There are multiple models available for energy supply.
Grid congestion also puts a brake on new construction. Building on a site where there is insufficient power available – and sometimes no gas – is pointless. Throughout the Netherlands, we need to work together to create solutions for this problem. And solutions do exist. As a company or institution, you can implement a solution in the form of a Virtual Power Grid. Another efficient solution is local collaboration in the form of an Energy Hub.
An increasing number of companies and institutions have little or insufficient capacity to draw more electrical power from the grid, as shown by the capacity map of the electricity network. In areas experiencing grid congestion, this means that both business growth and the energy transition cannot be achieved through additional power from the energy grid.
We are the most experienced provider of grid congestion solutions in the Netherlands – and perhaps even in the world. Our Energy Hub is not only a proven solution from a technological standpoint but also from an organizational and legal perspective. We have blueprints ready that assist in the relatively smooth realization and implementation of the system. Read more about our solution in one of our customer case studies.
For every business park or new construction project, it all begins with a quick scan of the situation. We are happy to perform this for you.
